Today was a day of exploration. We all wandered down towards the water. On the way we stopped at the third apartment we are getting rid of. It is smaller and is not as nice as these other two. We then walked up this small mountain where there were paths and stairs of stone, small ponds set up and at the top there were gardens, statues and a hotel with a restaurant. We had a good view of the Mediterranean Sea from there. We then walked down to the water for a little bit. We walked back up La Rambla and headed back to the other apartment. Monica's dad bought a couple of chickens for us for dinner. We already had bread, cheese, ham and water so that was our lunch at around 5 o'clock. Billy is cooking us all pork or something for dinner at the other apartment and we are going over there in about an hour.
We have been looking at cell phones and are probably going to get a family plan from Vodafone. We can have up to five lines and it is 21 euros for the first line and 6 euros for the additional lines. It is free calling among your family and pretty cheap for family to family. The monthly contract is 9 euros. We will have 9 people on the plan I think so that is two families. On Monday we are going to go figure out all the details and probably buy that plan. As far as international calls go, I have not bought a calling card here yet, but once things calm down I will do so.
One thing I do want to bring up is SKYPE. It is a free international calling program that you can download on the internet for free. Tom and Meg both have it. What you do is download the program from the internet. You then need to buy a headset that has a moutpiece/microphone thing on it to plug into your computer (something like what the telemarketers wear). Then we can both be online at the same time and talk to each other. I will look into more and download it and test it out with Tom and Meg. If it works, I won't need to call home ever. We can just talk over the internet. I will let you know how it goes.
In ending, all the kids here were playing with there new toys today. Dolls, remote control cars, etc. It's like Christmas all over again.
PS. When I woke up this morning, I went out on my balcony and could see some kids playing basketball on the court across the street through some trees.
